This was a cute, fast and easy read and it was just what I needed to take my mind off of school work.

The characters are likable, they meet in New York during a total blackout of the city and they got stuck in the elevator together and then stick together for the rest of the night where they discover information about each other, including the postcards Lucy’s parents send her whenever they travel and that becomes a “thing” between them.

At first this is a cute story, full of hope and wonder, but since the book is just about that it becomes kind of boring after a while and it feels like it’s taking you nowhere. This is told in two POV’s, Lucy and Owen, and if you’re like me, you get inside the story, you travel around the world, in this book you see France, Scotland and London on Lucy’s half, and a road trip through Owen’s eyes.

The setting of this book is wonderful, it’s just the story itself that it becomes dull, two teenagers who met once and “fall in love”, moving to other cities/countries and regretting they hadn’t met sooner or in another circumstances. They are apart in ate least 75% of the book, they hardly speak to each other, Owen sometimes sends postcards to Lucy and she e-mails him, but after a while, they just stop.

But on a bright side you see Lucy traveling and learning new cultures, and on Owen’s side you see him deal with the death of his mother and trying to live with the fact that she’s not with them (he and his dad) anymore. I liked his storyline better just because it dealt with something more important and serious and that actually had a plot, Lucy’s didn’t, her parents travelled and left her alone, her brothers were at college, that Lucy moves to London and starts traveling with her parents, and that’s it.

And finally, they meet again, Owen finally uses the e-mail (which he hates) and they kind of say they’ll be in New York one week of June even though they don’t and they make plans. Eventually they go, they meet, and in this case, we believe long distance relationships can work, you believe in these two.

If you’re a hopeless romantic who likes to travel I recommend this book.
