Life Update #1

Why not start a new series on how my life is going? Not that you care but I feel like I owe you all an explanation on why I haven't been posting much, only reviews, that to be honest those were already scheduled since summer.

I've been in a reading slump for the past month, I don't feel like reading at all, not even pick up a book, I'm currently reading one again, trying to get out of it, it's hard, but I'm trying, I already DNF'ed two books during that slump, which doesn't help.

Anxiety has been killing me, not literally, but with university work and teachers always telling you everything is wrong, do it again, I don't like that idea, elaborate in a different way... that makes me stressed, if I'm stressed then I don't eat or sleep, if I don't do any of those then anxiety kicks in and does the job of finishing me, to a point where I don't even want to leave the house, only for school, and even that I missed a few times or arrived later because I'm just done.

I'm an art student, so some stuff I need to have a plan before doing it, and I need ideas first, the teacher wants to speed the creation process to a point where I don't like my idea at all and I'm just doing it because I have to, normally that doesn't work well for me, why? the stress, the anxiety, the panic attacks.

Friends asked me if I wanted to go out with them, but I'm so out of energy that not even that I want to do, and trust me, if the day comes that I don't even want to go to the gym, which is the only place that I still want to go because I get my mind off of things and life, take some of the stress out, if that day comes... I don't know how to get back to a "normal" life, I'm already trying to go back to before all of this, making me eat and sleep. Today I had a headache for the entire day because I was just tired of everything, but I still got out of bed and went to school...

So yeah, long text just to explain that even though I've not been posting the tags and TBR's and wrap-ups, etc, I'm still trying to come back and write, but I need to be sure that I'm better enough for that, I want to enjoy doing this, I love writing posts on books, but if I don't even want to pick up a book then why would I write? Those are my thoughts right now and I don't want them...

Sorry for the long text, actually felt like writing, sorry if the text doesn't make sense, I don't even think I'll re-read it so I won't be able to change my mind and delete the whole thing.

If you're struggling with anxiety and uni and stress feel free to just write a long text, or small, if you need to vent, maybe someone will be able to help you (I don't promise I will) or just write something encouraging for other people that come here and need something positive, because I also could use that right now...

Love you and hopefully see you soon in more posts other than reviews.

How I Choose my Books | Book Tag

1. Find a book on your shelves or e-reader with a blue cover. What made you want to pick up this book?

The Upside of Unrequited by Becky Albertalli. I picked it because it has blue on the cover... probably also because I really want to read it.

2. Think of a book you didn’t expect to enjoy, but did. Why did you read it in the first place?

The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank. I read it mostly because I wanted to learn a bit more about the WWII and what better way than to read from a 14 years old girl that was actually in hiding during those awful moments?

3. Stand in front of your bookshelf with your eyes closed and pick up a book at random. How did you discover this book?

Looking for Alaska by John Green - I read a few books by this author at the time and I decided to start to buy them all, I also heard great things about this one, so my parents gave it to me on Christmas 2016!

September TBR | 2018

I usually don't do these TBR posts but today I thought I might actually try and do it, it probably won't be every month but we'll see.

I'm not adding a lot of books in this month TBR because uni starts September 17th and I don't know if I'll have time after it starts, last year and stuff, the teachers will be killing us with work.

The Book Blogger Test | Book Tag

1. What are your top three book pet hates?

1. I hate when they decide to change the covers in the middle of a book series, like, can you not? I like my books to match!

2. A cover problem again, when Portuguese books decide to change everything about the cover, the main example is Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli, they changed that completely and I hate the Portuguese cover!

3. I don't mind details, but some of them during sex scenes are just cringy and I want to stop reading and have to take a break from the book.

2. describe your perfect reading spot

In a balcony out in the woods with a swing chair! I would so love that!!

Books I DNFed #1

So I recently read a post about books that should've DNFed and I remembered I DNFed a lot of books, and I thought maybe you would enjoy reading something like that, maybe not, but I want to get this out of me because a lot of these are people's favorites and I just couldn't get it done. So here's the first post about books I DNFed and there's more to come.

Remember: these are just my opinion, I'm not saying the books suck, they just aren't for me, if you enjoyed any of these books then that's your opinion, don't judge me, please.

Lost in a Book | Book Tag

Do you have a certain place at home for reading?
Normally I like reading in my bed but in the summertime, I love reading outside in the swing chair.

Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Definitely bookmark! Most Portuguese books come with bookmarks whilst my English books have I have none. My mom is definitely the piece of paper reader, and she's also always losing it.

Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop at a chapter?
Unless I'm not enjoying the book I always have to finish the chapter!

Erasmus+ Book Haul | 2018

So I went to study Erasmus+ in Latvia and being the Bookworm that I am I couldn't help but buy books, I just didn't realize I had bought so many until I had to pack them to come back home, so I had to send a package home separately because the bag was overweight.

Looking now at my shelves I thought I could do a book haul, I bought 10 books while I was abroad, I arrived in mid June, I stayed for 4 and a half months, if you want I can write about my Erasmus experience, I've been thinking about it and how I would write it.

So without any further ado let's get into the haul

The Book Addiction | Book Tag

What is the longest amount of time you can comfortably go without picking up a book?

It depends if I have tons of school work than it can take a month... During vacation maybe 2 days.

How many books do you carry on your person (or kindle) at any one time?

Maybe one physical book and around 6 books on my phone.

Do you keep every book you buy/receive or are you happy to pass them on to make space for more?

So Booktube-a-thon ended last week, it was the first time ever that I participated, all those other years I just watched, even though I don't have a booktube account I still wanted to participate and see if I can do all challenges, I didn't... So yeah, but I still read 6 books and had a little reading slump in between so I'm still happy with the results.

No Disclaimers | Book Tag

1). Which trope (or tropes) in books, annoy you the most?

The best friend's to relationship trope, can they just stay friends? At least most books are like that when in real life it's most likely for you to stay in the friend zone (oh hey, I've been there).
I hate the dead parents one, like, can they just be alive and well? Do they have to be dead, or have a traumatizing death at the beginning, or be alive but are alcoholic or drug addicts and don't care about their kids? C'mon.
2). Which writer or writers do you feel are overrated/overhyped?

I head a lot about how people loved Girl Online when it came out, I don't know if it's considered overrated with 3.75 ratings on Goodreads but I'll consider it. I love Zoe as a YouTuber, I watch her vlogs and I love them. But that book was just bad, it has all the cliches I hate, it was put as a Young-Adult book but honestly, I felt like it was for early-teens because it has all the stupid decisions a teen would do.
3). What are your least favorite books you've read since you started blogging?

Even though I'm not a booktuber (but thinking about it), I want to participate in this read-a-thon because I just think it's so cool, last year I only watched the videos, I didn't participate, this year I want to challenge myself and see if I can read 7 books in one week or complete all challenges. Hopefully, it'll be easy with my TBR because I have, 1 contemporary, 4 poetry books, 1 graphic novel, and 1 re-read, so yeah.

Reader Problems Book Tag!

1. You have 20,000 books on your TBR. How in the world do you decide what to read next?

I don't even know how to decide with my 30 TBR pile, but I guess I would pick a top 5 or top 10, put their names on pieces of paper, put it in a hat and take one out. The name that I got would be my next read!

2. You’re halfway through a book and you’re just not loving it. Do you quit or are you committed?

Depends, if I spent a lot of money on the book (some are expensive), then I will try, but normally the ones I give up on are E-books, which are cheaper so I don't really mind stopping.

3. The end of the year is coming and you’re so close, but so far away on your Goodreads reading challenge. Do you try to catch up and how?

I would try to catch up by reading short books and graphic novels!

Alphabethon Summer Round | Week 1

So the day has come and Alphabethon started! And what did I decide to do? a weekly "wrap-up" or progress or whatever you feel like calling it because, to be honest, I have no idea what I'll call this thing I'll be doing for the next 4 weeks.

July 04, 2018

Creating a schedule for my blog?

Hello everyone! I think it's time for me to decide when to post stuff here, like wrap-ups (that I've been doing every time I read 10 books), tags, reviews, and just random stuff that I want to post. So my main idea is:

Monday - Book Tag

Wednesday - Review

Sunday - Wrap-up if there's one!

Saturday/Sunday - Random stuff like read-a-thons I participate in; hauls; TBR, etc.

These would be at around 7PM in Europe and surroundings, which I think is 11AM in America and surroundings, and I say around that time because I don't know how it will work once I get a job. But I'm going to try and make this schedule work because it's a matter of time to finally do it because before I posted every time I just felt like it.

What do you think? And is there any post that you would like to read about? Let me know!
