Original Covers vs Portuguese Covers #1

Hello there! Today I decided to do original covers vs Portuguese covers because I keep seeing these posts on blogs and youtube and thought it was an amazing idea. I might give you at least the plot of the book and a little bit of my thought on both the covers. Some of these I actually bought the e-book before I bought the physical book!

Let it snow by John Green

This is one of the changed covers that I actually like, and the title is not that different from the original, not the same as some of the books ahead.

About this book:
Sparkling white snowdrifts, beautiful presents wrapped in ribbons, and multicolored lights glittering in the night through the falling snow. A Christmas Eve snowstorm transforms one small town into a romantic haven, the kind you see only in movies. Well, kinda. After all, a cold and wet hike from a stranded train through the middle of nowhere would not normally end with a delicious kiss from a charming stranger. And no one would think that a trip to the Waffle House through four feet of snow would lead to love with an old friend. Or that the way back to true love begins with a painfully early morning shift at Starbucks. Thanks to three of today’s bestselling teen authors—John Green, Maureen Johnson, and Lauren Myracle—the magic of the holidays shines on these hilarious and charming interconnected tales of love, romance, and breathtaking kisses.

Simon vs the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli

I hate this cover and that title. The title has nothing to do with the English one, and it's just one of those cheesy titles that I wouldn't pick up for just seeing it, but reading the back I thought it sounded cool and I already had heard about it, but I didn't remember right away because of the change in the cover, with is another problem, I haven't read this one yet but does cookies and all stars have anything to do with this? please let me know... but even if it does I'm not the biggest fan.

About this book:

Sixteen-year-old and not-so-openly gay Simon Spier prefers to save his drama for the school musical. But when an email falls into the wrong hands, his secret is at risk of being thrust into the spotlight. Now Simon is actually being blackmailed: if he doesn’t play wingman for class clown Martin, his sexual identity will become everyone’s business. Worse, the privacy of Blue, the pen name of the boy he’s been emailing, will be compromised.

With some messy dynamics emerging in his once tight-knit group of friends, and his email correspondence with Blue growing more flirtatious every day, Simon’s junior year has suddenly gotten all kinds of complicated. Now, change-averse Simon has to find a way to step out of his comfort zone before he’s pushed out—without alienating his friends, compromising himself, or fumbling a shot at happiness with the most confusing, adorable guy he’s never met.

The Inexplicable Logic of My Life by Benjamin Alire Saénz

This cover is not that bad but I just prefer the original one. And the title is the right translation, finally!

About this book:
From the multi-award-winning author of Aristotle and Dante Discover, the Secrets of the Universe comes a gorgeous new story about love, identity, and families lost and found.

Sal used to know his place with his adoptive gay father, their loving Mexican-American family, and his best friend, Samantha. But it’s senior year, and suddenly Sal is throwing punches, questioning everything, and realizing he no longer knows himself. If Sal’s not who he thought he was, who is he? This humor-infused, warmly humane look at universal questions of belonging is a triumph.

Carry On by Rainbow Rowell

They decided to keep the name like other Rainbow Rowell stories and just added that it's the story of Simon Snow. Let me just say this, I love love love the Portuguese cover!! Finally, they got it right! In real life is even more beautiful, trust me.

About this book:
Simon Snow just wants to relax and savor his last year at the Watford School of Magicks, but no one will let him. His girlfriend broke up with him, his best friend is a pest and his mentor keeps trying to hide him away in the mountains where maybe he'll be safe. Simon can't even enjoy the fact that his roommate and longtime nemesis is missing, because he can't stop worrying about the evil git. Plus there are ghosts. And vampires. And actual evil things trying to shut Simon down. When you're the most powerful magician the world has ever known, you never get to relax and savor anything.
Based on the characters Simon and Baz who featured in Rainbow Rowell's bestselling novel FangirlCarry On is a ghost story, a love story, a mystery, and a melodrama. It has just as much kissing and talking as you'd expect from a Rainbow Rowell story - but far, far more monsters.

Turtles All The Way Down by John Green

I heard a lot of comments on the original cover saying they didn't like it, but I much rather prefer the original one then the Portuguese one, and don't let me start on the title... that has nothing to do with the original one! I don't know what was on the translator mind at the moment but C'mon!

About the book:

Sixteen-year-old Aza never intended to pursue the mystery of fugitive billionaire Russell Pickett, but there’s a hundred-thousand-dollar reward at stake and her Best and Most Fearless Friend, Daisy, is eager to investigate. So together, they navigate the short distance and broad divides that separate them from Russell Pickett’s son, Davis.

Aza is trying. She is trying to be a good daughter, a good friend, a good student, and maybe even a good detective, while also living within the ever-tightening spiral of her own thoughts.

In his long-awaited return, John Green, the acclaimed, award-winning author of Looking for Alaska and The Fault in Our Stars, shares Aza’s story with shattering, unflinching clarity in this brilliant novel of love, resilience, and the power of lifelong friendship.

So what are your thought on these covers? Do you have a blog with a similar post? let me know!
