Such a great quick read. Absolutely loved Stewart! Didn’t enjoy Ashley that much at first.
Basically, this book is about the meaning of family and friends you can’t trust…
It’s told in two different perspectives, one being Ashley, the popular girl, and then we have Stewart, the “nerd” boy who is gifted. After Stewart’s mom dies and Ashley’s dad tells them he’s gay, Stewart’s dad and Ashley’s mom start dating and move in together.
At the beginning Stewart is hurt he has to move out of the house where all memories with his mom were. And Ashley is mad at her dad for destroying the family, and that’s when I actually didn’t like her because even after a year she still “hated” her dad.
Anyway, Ashley starts dating this boy, and things get out of control at a party, and that’s when Ashley realizes what his intentions were, and Stewart was the one who saved her from what was about to happen.
I felt angry at Ashley’s negativity towards Stewart but at the same time, I felt bad for her towards the end of the book.
This book shows what can happen when two families merge, there’s the good but there’s also the bad.
So if you like family book with a hint of LGBT+ characters I recommend this to you, and now I’m excited to read more of Susin Nielsen’s works!
